Bocchino, the 2001 Pizza Hut MAAC Baseball Tournament Most Valuable Player, batted a conference-best .430 with 86 hits and 51 runs scored. He also led the MAAC in RBI (64 RBI) and doubles (20), earning him a spot on the All-MAAC Team this season. Bocchino helped lead the Red Foxes to the 2001 NCAA Tournament, an overall record of 33-21-1 and a 17-10 mark in the MAAC. Begg was selected as the 2001 MAAC Pitcher of the Year. He led the Purple Eagles with an 8-3 record on the mound and a 2.63 ERA. He also recorded 86 strikeouts and held opponents to a .266 batting average. Begg earned MAAC Pitcher of the Week honors on April 9 and April 23. Niagara finished their season at 25-20 and 15-11 in the MAAC. Marist's Tim Bittner also earned ECAC Honorable Mention as the designated hitter. A member of the 2001 MAAC All-Tournament and All-MAAC Teams, he was second on the team with a .397 batting average and collected 77 hits, 36 RBI and 33 runs in 48 games this season.
