Women's Results (.pdf): Track | FieldRIVERDALE, N.Y. -- For the sixth consecutive year, Manhattan College swept the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Draddy Gymnasium in Riverdale, N.Y. This was the seventh time in the nine-year history of the championship that both Manhattan teams accomplished the feat.
Manhattan won the men's team title with a score of 267.5 points beating out second place Rider University, who scored 121.5 points. Iona College finished third with 84 points followed by Canisius College (55 points), Marist College (53 points), and Saint Peter's College (13 points). Manhattan College won the women's team title with a score of 252.5 points; Rider University came finished second with 135 points. Marist College finished in third place with 93.5 points followed by Canisius College (51 points), Iona College (37 points), and Saint Peter's College (20 points).
Graeme Reid (Buchlyvie, Scotland), a senior at Iona, and Rider senior Will Zimmerman (Jackson, NJ) shared the honor of being named the Men's Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events. Reid, who won the honor last year, placed first in the mile run (4:12.09) and second in the 5,000 meters (14:57.05). Zimmerman had an outstanding afternoon with first place finishes in both the 55 meter high hurdles (7.70 seconds) and the 400 meter dash (50.01 seconds). Manhattan Junior Thomas Jacob Freeman (East Greenwich, RI) was named the Men's Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. Freeman won the 35 lb weight throw with a new MAAC record of 20.71 meters, and placed fifth in the shot put (14.07). Other notable performances included Jasper Magnus Ahlen (Carlstad, Sweden), who won the long jump and set a new MAAC record with a jump of 7.48 meters. Manhattan head coach Dan Mecca won Men's Coach of the Year Honors.
Manhattan senior Kristen Cerasi (Eastchester, NY) earned the Women's Most Outstanding Performer for Track Events award for her victories in two events. She won the 3,000 meter (10:18.26) and the mile with a time of 5:03.94. Manhattan senior Lauren Primerano (Trenton, NJ) garnered the award for Most Outstanding Performer for Field Events. Primerano was first in the weight throw (13.60 meters), second in the pole vault with 2.53 meters and fifth in the shot put with 10.96 meters. Rider Junior Jen Riley (Holland, PA) won the pole vault and broke her previous MAAC record of 2.40 meters with a 2.68 meter performance. Manhattan junior Stefani Allen (Levittown, PA) helped her Lady Jaspers to victory by winning both the 55 meter high hurdles (8.39 seconds) and the 200 meter dash (25.68 seconds). Rider head coach Bill Hodge was named Women's Coach of the Year.
