Manhattan Men's, Women's Teams in Front After First Day of Outdoor Track Championships

    LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- Day one of the 2003 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship took place Saturday at Rider University. Three meet records fell Saturday during competition, with two coming from the Manhattan team.

    Magnus Ahlen broke the men's long jump with a jump of 6.92 meters and Lauren Primerano set the women's javelin record with a throw of 45.04 meters. Mike Lurran of Marist recorded the new men's javelin record with a toss of 62.69 meters.

    At the end of day one Manhattan is leading in both the men's and women's scoring with combined scores of 72 and 93 respectively. Also note that the individual winners of each event qualify for the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Regional.
