Bronx, NY - Manhattan College junior centerfielder Matt Cucurullo was one of 11 baseball players selected to the Verizon Academic All-District I Baseball First Team. All first team honorees will advance to the national ballot.

Cucurullo, a business major with a 3.27 GPA, was named to the 2001 MAAC All-Academic Team and is contention to be named to this year's team as well. He leads the team with a .368 batting average and is tied for the team lead in RBI with 36. A starter in 37 games for the Jaspers, he owns a .522 slugging percentage and a .987 fielding percentage.
