Anne Windover Named Niagara Women's Lacrosse Coach

Niagara University, NY - Niagara University Director of Athletics Mike Hermann announced the hiring of Anne Windover as the Purple Eagles' third women's lacrosse coach in the program's history.

"Anne has an exciting combination of skills and experiences. Not only was she was an All-America college player, but she has great experience and contacts in Ontario, which is a terrific lacrosse hotbed," Hermann said. "As a coach, she have experience as a head coach, plus she spent three years within our league as an assistant. I'm pleased she will be joining our program and I'm looking forward to her first season."

Windover, a 1997 Old Dominion graduate, comes to Niagara after spending three and half years at Alfred University. She helped the Saxons advance to the New York State postseason quarterfinals and win 19 games in three seasons.

Prior to Alfred, Windover spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Canisius College, working with the Golden Griffins since their inaugural season in 1998.

As a collegian, Windover was a three-time all-American, four-time all-region selection, a four-time member of the Brine All-American Regional Team and a three-time first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honoree, and the 1996 Lady Monarch MVP. She currently ranks second in points and goals, and third in assists in the Old Dominion record book

Following graduation, Windover played on the 1993 Canadian World Cup Team in Scotland and was the tournament's leading scorer. From 1984 to 1998, she played on the Ontario Women's Senior Lacrosse Team. Windover also played in the Friendship Games in Japan in 1991 and box lacrosse for 10 years in Whitby, Ont.

A native of Ajax, Ontario, Canada, Windover earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Old Dominion and her master's degree in physical education from Canisius College in 2000.
