Manhattan Takes on Richmond at Madison Square Garden Saturday

Edison, NJ - The Manhattan College men's basketball team will be the first MAAC program to play at Madison Square Garden this season when the Jaspers take on the University of Richmond on Saturday, December 20 at 2:00 p.m. as part of the Dreyfus Classic.

The matchup between the Jaspers and the Spiders is the second game of a double bill at the Garden. Duke and Texas will tip-off the doubleheader at noon.

Manhattan is currently 3-2 overall, after losing to No. 21 Syracuse, the defending National Champion, 69-63, on December 17. Luis Flores, the 2003-04 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, is leading the way again for Manhattan this season, averaging 22.6 points per game. Dave Holmes is registering 14.0 points and 8.2 rebounds a night for the Jaspers.

Richmond is now 5-3 overall, as the Spiders won their last game on December 13 with a 70-58 victory at South Florida. Richmond, is led by Mike Skrocki, who is contributing 17.1 points per game, and Tony Dobbins, who is adding 10.1 points and 8.9 caroms an outing for Richmond. Saturday's game will mark the end of a three-game road trip for the Spiders.
