Edison, NJ ?“ Marist College Head Women?™s Basketball Coach Brian Giorgis has been named the 2004 The Rock MAAC Women?™s Basketball Coach of the Year.

Giorgis, in his second season at Marist, has led the Red Foxes to a 13-5 MAAC record and an overall record of 17-10. His Red Foxes also have secured the #2 seed in the 2004 HSBC MAAC Basketball Tournament. Marist players Stephanie Del Preore and Maureen Magarity, both have been named to the All-MAAC Second Team. Five of Giorgis?™ players were also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

Last season was Giorgis?™ first in Poughkeepsie and he led the Red Foxes to a 13-16 overall record and 8-10 MAAC record. His team last season advanced to the quarterfinals of the MAAC Basketball Tournament, their first appearance in the quarterfinals since joining the league in the 1997-98 season.
