Fairfield's Beth Loffredo & Siena's Michelle Eide share Preseason Player of the Year honors
Edison, NJ ?“ Le Moyne College, the 2004 MAAC Lacrosse League regular season champion, has been selected to finish at the top of the League?™s standings according to the coaches?™ preseason poll.
Le Moyne received a total of 55 points in the poll, just six points ahead of the defending tournament champion Manhattan College Jaspers. Siena College placed third in the poll with 45 points, followed by fourth place Marist?™s 43 points and sixth place Fairfield?™s 42 points. Rounding out the poll at sixth place is Niagara with 21 points, followed by Iona with 19 points and Canisius with 14 points.
Fairfield?™s Beth Loffredo (Saratoga Springs, NY), the 2004 Offensive Player of the Year, will share preseason Player of the Year honors with reigning Rookie of the Year, Siena?™s Michelle Eide (Pearl River, NY). Last season Loffredo totaled 35 goals and 13 assists in 16 games. She averaged 3.00 points per contests and finished with 48 total; third best in the MAAC. Eide finished second in the MAAC in goals last season with 38. In addition to her 38 goals, she added five assists to give her 43 points for the season.
Loffredo and Eide are joined on the Preseason All-MAAC Team by Niagara?™s Ashley Baker at attack. At defense are Canisius?™ Elise Crawford (Lancaster, NY), Le Moyne?™s Sonya Kilcourse (Phoenix, NY) and Niagara?™s Miko Daluisio (Lancaster, NY). At Midfield are Le Moyne?™s Elizabeth Hewitt (Liverpool, NY) and Kristen Malecki (Baldwinsville, NY), followed by Manhattan?™s Jenny Carman (Freeport, NY), Victoria Carman (Freeport, NY) and Molly Pheterson (Rochester, NY). Rounding out the team at Goalkeeper is Marist?™s Heather Ripp (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY).
