EDISON, NJ ?“ Rider University?™s Brandon Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Fairfield University?™s Jennifer Masi (North Haven, Conn.) have been named the MAAC Men?™s and Women?™s Swimmers of the Week, respectively. Marist College?™s Jesus Santos (Haverstraw, N.Y.) and Meghan Duffy (Cheshire, Conn.) earned the MAAC Men?™s and Women?™s Divers of the Week award, respectively.
Modrov, a junior at Rider, won the 200-yard individual medley (1:53.03) at the Rutgers Super Splash. He also placed fifth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:03.79), sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.24) and seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.22).
Masi, a junior at Fairfield, set a Fairfield school record and a Siena pool record in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in with a time of 24.60 in a dual meet with Siena and Sacred Heart. She also won the 100-yard freestyle, setting a school-record with a time of 54.35. Masi was a part of the 200-yard medley relay team that posted a school-record and Siena pool record with a time of 1:52.37.
Santos, a sophomore at Marist, won the three-meter event on Saturday at the H2ounds Invitational with a score of 386.30. On day one of the invitational, he placed second in the one-meter event with a score of 196.65.
Duffy, a senior at Marist, swept both diving events over the weekend at the H2ounds Invitational. In the three-meter event, she posted a winning score of 398.40. In the one-meter event, Duffy set a new Mangione Aquatic Center pool record with a score of 252.70.
