Flushing Meadows, NY ?“ Top seeded Marist College and fifth seeded Fairfield University earned trips to the semifinals of the 2006 MAAC Women?™s Tennis Championship held at the USTA National Tennis Center.

Marist earned a 6-1 victory over Saint Peter?™s College. Marist won the doubles point, after winning all three matches. In singles play, Saint Peter?™s won the number three singles match, while Marist won the remaining singles matches.

Fairfield pulled off a 6-1 upset win over fourth seeded Loyola College. In doubles play, Loyola scored a victory in the number one doubles match, while Fairfield won the two remaining doubles matches to earn the doubles point.

The 2006 MAAC Women?™s Tennis Championship continues tomorrow with action moving to the Yanitelli Center at Saint Peter?™s College due to expected rain showers. Men?™s semifinal final action begins at 10:00 am, while the women are tentatively scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm. All consolation matches have been canceled.
