PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team, which captured its second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title on Sunday, May 7 with an 8-6 win over Mount St. Mary's, earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament and will play at No. 3 seed Hofstra on Sunday, May 14 at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN U in the First Round.

The Friars finished the season with a 10-6 mark and a 6-2 record in the MAAC. PC will be making its second appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2004.

Hofstra finished the season with a 15-1 mark and a 6-0 record in the Colonial Athletic Conference. The team's only loss was a 11-7 season opening defeat at UMass. Hofstra won the CAA title on May 6 with a 12-6 victory over the University of Delaware. Hofstra is led by the nation's leading scorer, Chris Unterstein. He registered 71 points (37 goals, 34 assists) in 16 games.

The only common opponent this season between the two teams was North Carolina. Hofstra defeated the Tar Heels, 6-5, on March 15. The Friars were defeated by UNC, 11-7, on April 23.

Ironically, the Friar men's soccer team played its first round NCAA game at Hofstra this season, earning a 1-0 win in overtime.
