PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Meghan Wood, Loyola
5-11, Jr., F, Stormville, NY / Carmel

Tied her career-high with 16 points in back-to-back wins over Manhattan and Niagara ? recorded a double-double against the Jaspers with 11 rebounds ? averaged 16 points and eight rebounds on the week while shooting 73.7% from the floor and 80% from the free-throw line ? led Loyola on the week in scoring and rebounds ? is now second on the team in scoring at 10.1 points and rebounds at 6.7 a game.

 

Melissa Manzer, Siena
5-6, Jr., G, Johnson City, NY / Johnson City

Junior guard Melissa Manzer (Johnson City, N.J./Johnson City) averaged 18.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg in two league contests on the week. Manzer shot a phenomenal 50% from the field and 53% from 3-point range. On Friday, she helped guide the Saints to a 64-54 win over Canisius. Manzer registered 14 points and went 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Late game heroics by Manzer helped lift the Saints to their third league win of the season. She drained back-to-back 3-pointers down the stretch to put the game out of reach. On Sunday, Manzer recorded a career-high scoring 23 points versus Saint Peter's.


 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Rachele Fitz, Marist
6-0, Fr., G, Seven Hills, OH/Trinity

Fitz recorded her second career double-double on Jan. 19 vs. Saint Peter's (12 points, 11 rebounds), and came just one rebound shy of three in a row against Iona, which was previously unbeaten in the MAAC, on Jan. 21 (11 points, nine rebounds). For the week, Fitz averaged 11.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 23.0 minutes per game. She shot .471 (8-for-17) from the field and .875 (7-for-8) from the free-throw line. Her 11 rebounds against Saint Peter's was the highest single-game rebounding total for any Red Fox this season.
