Canisius, Iona Earn Consolation Wins In MAAC Volleyball Championship

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. ? In today’s consolation matches Iona College defeated Loyola College 3-2, while Canisius took care of Manhattan 3-1.
With today’s win Iona College locked up a fifth place finish in the tournament. The Gaels had a 4-1 record through the championship. Canisius earned a third place finish with their victory over Manhattan.
Sarah Wiener led the Gaels with 22 kills, while Megan Daily added 19 kills and 24 digs. Kayleigh Tobia also had 24 digs. Iona’s Alyssa Morales had 55 assists in the match. Loyola was led by Blair Snyder’s 22 kills and 32 digs. Nicole Scimeme added 26 digs.
Canisius was led to victory by Mary Boller’s 19 kill performance. Aislinn Hayes added 16 kills, while Jessica Stackhouse had 31 digs. Jen Smith added 27 digs for the Griffs Rita Welsh led Manhattan with 13 kills and Ashley Watson had 27 digs.
