Siena Upsets Loyola, 1-0, in MAAC Women's Soccer Semifinal

Fairfield, Conn. -- Siena College advanced to the title game of the 2006 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship with a 1-0 win over Loyola College in the first semifinal game of the tournament at Lessing Field on the campus of Fairfield University.
The fourth-seeded Saints scored the lone game of the game at the 48:07 mark as senior forward Kristen Turner, the 2006 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, knocked in her 11th goal of the season off a pass from senior defender Lauren Stys.
Patti Carroll recorded her fourth shutout of the season, posting seven saves for Siena. Loyola’s Brittany Henderson recorded two saves for the top-seeded Greyhounds. Siena is now 9-7-2 overall, while Loyola closed out its season at 10-7-2.
Siena will play the winner of the Fairfield University/Niagara University second semifinal game this evening. The winner of the 2006 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship will earn an automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship.
