Edison, N.J. ? Three MAAC players were named to the Collegehoops.net Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team.

 

Rider University’s Jason Thompson was named to the First Team, and Niagara University’s Charron Fisher was selected to the Second Team.  Loyola College’s Gerald Brown received Honorable Mention.

 

Thompson, a member of the 2006-07 All-MAAC First Team, is the MAAC’s top rebounder, pulling down 10.1 boards per game last season, and is the third top returning scorer, recording 20.1 points a night for the Broncs.  During the 2006-07 season, he was one of just three Division I players to average over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.  Thompson, the 2007 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, compiled 17 double-doubles in his junior campaign.

 

Fisher, a 2006-07 First Team All-MAAC selection, finished second on the MAAC scoring chart last season, netting 20.6 points per contest for the Purple Eagles.  He recorded 8.0 caroms an outing, and owned a 76.8 free throw percentage.

 

Brown, a First Team All-MAAC choice last season, led the league in scoring last season, averaging 22.2 points an outing for the Greyhounds, while pulling down 5.0 boards and dishing out 2.7 assists per game.  He also connected on 74.8 percent of his shots from the charity stripe during the 2006-07 season.
