MAAC Announces Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ ? Marist College’s Greg Jablonski and Rider University’s Priscilla Modrov have been named MAAC Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week, respectively. Marist’s Devon O’Nalty earned Men’s Diver of the Week honors, while Rider’s Amanda Burke and Marist’s Melissa Mangona were selected as co-Women’s Divers of the Week.
Jablonski, a senior, had a strong weekend for the Red Foxes at the Orange Invitational in Syracuse, New York. Jablonski had four different second place finishes on the weekend: the 200 Yard Individual Medley (IM) (1:57.81), the 400 Yard IM (4:13.17), the 100 Yard Breaststroke (:59.19), and the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:08.07).
Modrov set Rider pool records in the 100 butterfly (57.47) and the 200 butterfly (2:05.47) in the season opening meet with UMBC. She also won the 200 IM (2:08.71), and swam on the winning 200 medley relay.
O’Nalty led the Marist diving squad in an impressive opening weekend. O’Nalty won both the one-meter and three-meter events at the Orange Invitational. In his one-meter victory he scored a 291.85, and in the three-meter he scored a 283.80. Both scores were personal bests for O’Nalty and qualify him for the ECAC Championships.
Burke won both the one-meter and the three-meter (242.63) dives in Rider’s season-opening meet with UMBC. Her one-meter score of 274.87 set a new Rider record and qualifies her for the NCAA Zone meet.
Mangona opened the 2007-08 campaign in a big way for the Marist women's swiming and diving team. The Red Foxes senior captain finished second in both the three-meter and one-meter diving events at the Orange Invitational. In the three-meter event she scored a 276.05, which qualifies her for the ECAC Championships, as well as the NCAA Zone meet. In the one-meter event, she scored a 249.50, which also qualifies for the ECAC’s.
