Iona Looks to Repeat at 2007 MAAC Cross Country Championships

Edison, NJ ? The 2007 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will take place on Friday, October 26 at Van Cortlandt Park in Riverdale, NY. The women’s 6k race will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by the men’s 8k race at 1:45 p.m.
On the men’s side, the Iona College Gaels, currently ranked fourth in the nation, will be seeking their 17th consecutive MAAC title and 21st overall. The Gaels return four of their top six runners from last year’s MAAC Championship, including individual winner Abraham Ng’etich, who finished the 8k course in 25:12.0.
The Iona women’s team will be running for their third straight MAAC Championship. Junior McKayla Plank, who finished third overall in 2006 with a time of 22:00.6, will lead the Gaels as she takes aim at the individual title. Niagara University’s Julie Dickhans and Siena’s Brina Seguine, both three time Women’s Runner of the Week selections in 2007, will compete for the title.
