MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

 

Phil Bannister, Loyola

F, Fr., 5-10, 156, Newcastle Upon Tyme, England/Monkseaton

Bannister, a freshman forward, scored two goals and added one assist as Loyola won its opening two games of MAAC competition this past weekend.  Bannister took three shots and had the game-winner in Sunday’s win at Marist.  He leads the Greyhounds with seven goals and 17 points this season.

 

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

 

Milos Kocic, Loyola

GK, So., 6-3, 190, Leskovac, Serbia/Vojislav Nikolajevic

Kocic, a sophomore goalkeeper, registered two shutouts, making 10 saves in games at Siena and Marist last weekend.  He held both squads scoreless to improve his season goals against average to 0.64.  Kocic played all 120 minutes in goal for Loyola.

 

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

Adam Catley, Canisius

GK, Fr., 6-3, 200, Toronto, Ontario/M.M. Robinson

Catley, a freshman goalkeeper, recorded his first collegiate shutout Oct. 6, as the Golden Griffins beat long-time rival Niagara, 3-0, in the MAAC opener for both squads.  He made eight saves for the Blue and Gold as the team shutout the Purple Eagles for the first time since 1999.  Through his first nine college games, the Toronto, Ont., native has recorded 61 saves, which ranks him in the top five nationally.
