Plank and van Ingen Named MAAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

EDISON, N.J. ? Canisius College’s Eric van Ingen and Iona College’s McKayla Plank have been selected as the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week, respectively.
In only his second career start, freshman Erik van Ingen ran the fastest time for a Canisius runner since the late 1980’s and recorded a fifth-place finish at the Disney Cross Country Classic. His time of 25:28 in the 8K event was the fastest time for a Canisius runner ever at the Disney Cross Country Classic. Van Ingen’s time of 25:28 was a career-best for an 8K race.
Plank, a junior, earned the individual title at the 2007 New York State Metropolitan Championship, finishing 23 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher with a time of 18:16 in the 5K race. The Gaels finished second to Columbia, the No. 6 ranked team in the Northeast region. Fordham, Rutgers, Manhattan and Marist rounded out the top six.
