2007 MAAC Volleyball Championship Begins Today

Fairfield, CT ? The 2007 MAAC Volleyball Championship
will begin at 11 a.m. as hosts Fairfield University (#2) take on third seed
Loyola College. At 2 p.m., top seeded Siena College will face fourth seeded
Iona College.
Fairfield
finished the regular season 17-1 in the MAAC and 20-10 overall. Their 17-1
conference mark earned them a share of the Regular Season Championship. Loyola
ended the season with a 13-5 league record and went 22-11 overall. Fairfield is
2-0 this season against the Greyhounds, winning the first match 3-0 and the
second meeting 3-2.
Siena enters
the MAAC Championship after going 17-1 in the MAAC and 22-7 overall. The Saints
shared the regular season title with Fairfield. Iona had a 10-8 conference
record and finished 13-18 overall. Siena defeated Iona 3-0 in each of the team’s
meetings this season.
