Flood continues to show her leadership on the floor as Manhattan won its first
two MAAC games this week. In their 57-52
win over Siena College on Friday, Flood notched a
double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 boards. She shot 7-13 from the field including going
5-6 from the free throw line. On Sunday,
Manhattan took
on Saint Peter’s College where Flood dropped 27 points. This marks the second time this season that
Flood has scored 27. Flood averaged 23
points in her two games and also tallied 19 rebounds (8.5 rpg). She shot .571 from the field over the week
and went 12-14 from the charity stripe.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
CANDICE WALKER, LOYOLA
Freshman, Guard, 5-5, Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic
Walker led the Greyhounds to
three victories last week, averaging 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and
2.0 steals per game as Loyola defeated UMBC, Niagara,
and Canisius. She played 36 minutes in each game and did not leave the floor in
the second half of any of the contests. Against Niagara, Walker tied for the team highs with 15 points
and seven rebounds. She scored 13 of her points and grabbed six of her rebounds
in the second half. In the Canisius game, she matched her career-high and tied
for the game-high with 16 points. With 2:50 remaining in the game, she had a
steal and fast-break lay-up to put Loyola up four, and she hit two free throws
in the final 15 seconds to ice the game.
