Rider's Smith and Kajunski Earn MAAC Indoor Track Weekly Honors

Edison, NJ ? Rider’s John Smith was selected as the MAAC Indoor Track Men’s Performer of the Week, while fellow Bronc Kelly Kajunski was named the Women’s Performer of the Week.
The Rider men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams opened the 2007-08 season this past weekend at the Princeton New Year’s Invitational at Jadwin Gym. Other teams in the field included Loyola, Princeton, Rutgers, Monmouth, and Temple.
Smith, a senior, won the 3000 meter race with a personal best of 8:44.42. The second place runner finished over 11 seconds behind Smith’s pace. On the women’s side, Kajunski, a junior from Glenmore, Pennsylvania, won the high jump with an ECAC qualifying height of 1.70 meters (5’7’’).
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track Championships will be held on Friday, February 22nd at The Armory Track & Field Center in New York City.
