Flood and Walker Selected as MAAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week

MAAC Player of the Week

CAITLIN FLOOD, MANHATTAN

Senior, Forward, 5-11, Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional

Senior Caitlin Flood put on a stellar performance this past week as Manhattan participated in the Brown University Tournament. Flood dropped a game high 18 points in their loss versus St. Joseph’s University. On the next day, Flood had a season-high 27 points which pushed her past the 1,000 career point mark. Flood is the first Lady Jasper to join the 1,000 point club since Rosalee Mason in 2004. On the weekend, Flood averaged 22.5 points per game as well as tallying seven total assists. She was also 17-18 from the free throw line in her two games, which included a 10-10 performance in Sunday’s win against Howard. She shot 65% from the field and 50% from the three point as Manhattan went 1-1 in the tournament.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

CANDICE WALKER, LOYOLA

Freshman, Guard, 5-5, Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic

Walker had her second-straight double figure outing with 11 points in a win at Mount St. Mary’s. She also tied for team-high honors with three offensive rebounds, although she was the smallest player in the game. Walker’s ability to drive and create opportunities for herself and teammates led to her scoring seven second half points, including 3-of-3 from the free throw line. She had a total of four rebounds and one assist in the game and played 35 minutes, tying her career-high.
