Todd Sowell, Saint Peter's
Senior, Forward, 6-7, 250, Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin
Sowell, a senior forward, led the Peacocks to a 1-1 week, averaging a double-double with 16.5 points and 15.5 rebounds. He also had two assists, five blocks and a steal. In the Peacocks' win over Monmouth, he tied his career high with 18 rebounds, 10 of them offensive, and scored 23 points, two off his career high. For the week, he shot 66.7 percent from the floor (12-18).
Alex Franklin, Siena
Sophomore, Forward, 6-5, 228, Reading, Pa./Central Catholic
Franklin, a sophomore forward, posted his fourth straight double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds as Siena knocked off two-time defending America East Champion Albany, 75-71, in its only game of the week. He went 8-12 from the field and 8-11 from the free throw line, including a pair with six seconds left to seal the win. Franklin also had five offensive rebounds and two blocked shots.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Rashad Green, Manhattan
Freshman, Guard, 6-4, 195, North Babylon, N.Y./Bridgton Academy
Green, a freshman guard, nearly averaged a double-double with 15.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game. He scored 10 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds in the 100th Battle of the Bronx game vs. Fordham. Green then paced the Manhattan offense with a season-high 20 points, adding a game- and season-high nine rebounds, along with three assists, three blocks, and one steal in the Jaspers’ road win over America East preseason favorite Boston University.
