Marist College Wins 2006 MAAC Rowing Championships

West Windsor, N.J. ? The Marist College men’s and women’s rowing teams won the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rowing Championships at Mercer Lake.
In the women’s competition, Marist took top honors with 192 points. Loyola College finished second with 140 points, followed by Iona College (120), Fairfield University (100) and Manhattan College (51).
On the men’s side, Marist took home its ninth league title with a total of 243 points. Loyola was the runner-up with 220 points. Fairfield finished in third place (143), followed by Iona (77) and Manhattan (8).
The Marist men won nine of the 10 events in which they were entered, with Loyola earning a victory in the Novice Lightweight 4+. On the women’s side, the Red Foxes took first place in the Varsity 4+, the Novice Lightweight 4+, the second Varsity 8, the Women’s Pair, the Varsity Lightweight 4+ and Varsity 8.
Marist’s Kelly Harris was named the 2006 Anaconda Sports MAAC Rowing Coach of the Year.
