Bayley and Plank Earn MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

EDISON, N.J. ? Iona College graduate student Tim Bayley has been selected as the MAAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, while the Gaels’ red-shirt freshman McKayla Plank earned the MAAC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly honors.
Bayley qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championship in the 1,500 meter run with a first place finish at the 2007 Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium on Friday night. He ran the third fastest time in school history, winning the 1.5K in 3:42.80. The time is the third fastest in the East Region this outdoor season, and currently ranks No. 9 in the country. Bayley defeated La Salle's Sean Quigley by over a second.
Plank represented the Gaels at the 2007 Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium on Friday night. The second-year standout shattered a school record in the 800-meter event. As the lone Gael woman at Princeton, Plank finished first in the 800-meter run with personal best time of 2:07.07. The mark qualified her for both the ECAC and NCAA East Regional Championship in the event. It is the fourth fastest time in the East this season, and 17th fastest in the country.
