Le Moyne, Marist to meet for Women's Lacrosse Title

New Rochelle, NY ? Le Moyne College and Marist College both overcame wet and cold conditions to claim semifinal victories today and will meet in the 2007 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship game Sunday at noon from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.
Le Moyne College advances to the championship game for the second consecutive year, where they will seek their fourth MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship title. The Red Foxes advance to the title game for the second time in school history. Marist last played in the title game in 2003, where they lost to Le Moyne 9-7
The Dolphins advanced to the championship game after claiming a hard fought 14-9 victory over Manhattan in the day’s first semifinal. Whitney Vecchio and Kylie Rosette each scored six points to lead the Dolphins. MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, Amanda Keegan also scored four goals for the Dolphins.
Brenna Tinari scored four goals to lead the Jaspers, while Ashley Devins came up with 11 stops in goal for Manhattan. The Jaspers finish their 2007 campaign with an overall record of 5-11.
Ali Carnabuci scored four goals and assisted on two more to help Marist earn a 13-8 victory over #2 seed Fairfield. MAAC Rookie of the Year, Liz Falco, chipped in with four goals. Fairfield goalkeeper, Liz Burkhard had a great day in the cage, stopping 15 would-be goals.
Ashley Chappell led the Stags with four points on three goals and one assist. Abbey Goodwin added three goals, while Amy Neville had two. Kelly Barnes picked up five ground balls for the Stags. Fairfield concludes the 2007 season with an 8-10 record.
