MAAC Announces 2007 Women's Tennis All-MAAC Awards

Edison, NJ ? The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced today the members of the 2007 Women’s Tennis All-MAAC Teams, highlighted by Marist’s Christine Ong who was selected Player of the Year.
Also earning individual honors was Marist’s Cassie Strange, who earned Rookie of the Year honors, while Marist head coach Roge Nesbitt was selected Coach of the Year.
Ong, a junior from Tarzana, Calif., compiled a record of 9-1 at No. 1 singles and was 2-1 at No. 2 singles. She also had a record of 12-1 at No. 1 doubles. Last month at the MAAC Tennis Championship, Ong claimed Most Outstanding Performer honors after she won all her matches at No. 1 singles in straight sets.
Strange earned Rookie of the Year honors after earning a 15-4 record at No. 2 singles and was 20-3 in doubles competition.
In her first year as head coach Nesbit lead the Red Foxes to their first NCAA Tournament appearance and compiled a 13-2 overall record, while finishing conference play at 7-0.
