Loyola is the Team to Beat in Race for 2007 MAAC Women's Soccer Title

Edison, N.J. - Loyola College has been picked to win the 2007 MAAC women's soccer title this season in a preseason poll voted on by the league's 10 head coaches.
Loyola finished with 93 points in the poll, six points ahead of second-place Niagara University (87). Fairfield University was picked third with 86 points, and Siena College finished in fourth place with 62 points. Manhattan College placed fifth (58), followed by Marist College (57), Iona College (33), Canisius College and Rider University (30), and Saint Peter's College (14).
Niagara's Brittany Bisnott (Brampton, Ontario) has been chosen as the 2007 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year. Bisnott, a member of the 2006 MAAC Women's Soccer First Team, is the league's top returning scorer this season after recording with 21 goals and three assists for a total of 45 points during her junior campaign. She was also named last year's Most Valuable Player after leading the Purple Eagles to their first MAAC title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
Joining Bisnott at forward are fellow teammate Stephanie Gartley (Sarnia, Ontario) and Fairfield's Ahna Johnson (Hampden, Conn.). The midfielders are Fairfield's Alex Caram (Lexington, Mass.), Loyola's Lea Day (Boulder, Colo.) and Siena's Amy Loughridge (Guilderland, N.Y.). The backs are anchored by Fairfield's MT Church (Littleton, Colo.), Loyola's Brynn McGrath (Old Brookville, N.Y.) and Sarra Moller (Manalapan, N.J.), and Siena's Katie Goodwin (Valley Stream, N.Y.). Fairfield's Brett Maron (Billerica, Mass.) rounds out the team at the goalkeeper position for the third consecutive year.
