Siena Men's Basketball Opens 2007-08 Season in 2007 Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off

Edison, N.J. ? The Siena College men’s basketball program will open the 2007-08 season against Syracuse University on Monday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m. EST in the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament.  The contest will be carried live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.

 

The Saints and the Orange are playing in the East region at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.  Saint Joseph’s University will take on Fairleigh Dickinson University at 9:30 p.m.  The championship and consolation games will take place on Tuesday, November 13.

 

The Tournament will culminate in New York’s Madison Square Garden with the semifinal doubleheader tipping at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21 on ESPN2.  The championship doubleheader will be played on Friday, November 23, with the consolation game starting at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN and the championship game tipping at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN2.

 

The post season NIT was founded in 1938 by a group of New York City sportswriters while the NIT Season Tip-Off, formerly known as the preseason NIT, started in 1985.  An independent at-large committee chooses the field for both events.  Since the inception of the two Tournaments, tens of thousands of student-athletes and coaches have participated.  Visit www.nit.org for more details on Tournament history, selection committee and procedures.
