Virtue Lands Internship With NACDA
MAAC Sports
Ryan Virtue graduated from Niagara University with a bachelor
of science in sports management. A varsity baseball player, Virtue was
a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic
team (2007) and received the National Student-Athlete Day award for
achieving excellence in academics and athletics, while making
significant contributions to the community (2006).
A native of Stittsville, Ontario, Virtue was honored by Niagara
athletics with the Purple Heart award for being the male athlete who
most exemplifies what it is to be a Purple Eagle through contributions
to one's team on and off the field (2007). He was also honored with the
Purple Eagle Award presented for work done behind the scenes, with a
tremendous dedication and pride in Niagara athletics (2007).
As an intern in the Niagara athletics department, he spent two years
working in operations and marketing. While working in operations, he
was primarily responsible for team travel. In marketing he assumed the
coordinator position for the N-Zone, Niagara's student fan group. As a
coordinator Virtue was responsible for communicating with sponsors and
for the registration, organization and planning of events for the 535
Niagara students who participated (a 27% increase from the previous
year).
Following his internship, Virtue plans to pursue work in college athletics while eventually achieving a graduate degree.
Virtue will be working with CABMA, ICLA, DII ADA and NATYCAA. Virtue
will also be working with the AstroTurf ADOY program. Virtue can be
