Phil Bannister, Loyola

Bannister, a freshman forward, scored two goals, including one game winner, as the Greyhounds won the Loyola College Black and Decker Soccer Classic with victories over Adelphi and No. 23 Towson. He scored the lone goal in Loyola’s 1-0 victory over Adelphi and added another goal in Loyola’s 3-0 win over Towson.

Tennant McVea, Loyola

McVea, a sophomore defender, helped the Greyhound defense earn two shutouts over the weekend, including one against 23rd-ranked Towson, who entered the match scoring in 25 straight games. He helped the Hounds outscore opponents, 4-0, last week with not only his defense, but also his offense with one game-winning goal on one shot attempt.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
Steve Skonieczny, Siena
GK, Fr., 6-0, 185, LaGrangeville, N.Y./Arlington
Skoneiczny, a freshman goalkeeper, posted 10 saves and a .833 save percentage in 210:22 minutes of work in net. On Sunday, he stood tall in goal, holding non-conference rival St. Bonaventure to just one goal over 110 minutes of action. His game-high five saves helped Siena preserve the 1-1 tie.
