Charron Fisher, Niagara

Senior, Forward, 6-3, 230, Pennsauken, N.J./Roman Catholic

Fisher, a senior forward, led Niagara to a 1-1 week by averaging 31.5 points while shooting 43.2 percent from the field in 79 minutes of play.  The nation’s leading scorer connected on nine field goals in Friday’s loss to Siena for 31 points, seven boards, three steals and two assists.  On Sunday, Fisher led Niagara to a 17-point win over Manhattan with 32 points and eight rebounds, while shooting 10-of-11 from the line.  He connected on 10 field goals, while handing out a pair of helpers and three steals.

 

 

Jason thompson, Rider

Senior, Forward, 6-11, 250, Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape

Thompson, a senior forward, averaged 21.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 blocks per game over two league wins for the Broncs.  He recorded 15 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two blocks at Iona.  Thompson then tallied 28 points 17 boards, five blocks and four assists over Loyola.  For the week, he shot 63 percent from the floor (17-27). 

      

 

 

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

Jay Gavin, Marist

Freshman, Guard, 6-1, 195, Seat Pleasant, Md./Bishop McNamara

Gavin, a freshman guard, averaged 22.3 points 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game in a 3-0 week for the Red Foxes.  For the week, he went 18-for-26 (.692) from three-point range, 20-for-33 (.606) from the field and 9-for-11 (.818) from the free-throw line as Marist went 3-0 this past week.  He topped 20 points in all three contests, scoring a career-high 23 against Manhattan and Fairfield and tallying 21 against Saint Peter’s.  Gavin has now scored over 20 points in each of his last four games.
