Koessler Athletic Center Hosts MAAC Basketball Doubleheader on ESPNU Friday

Edison, N.J. -- The Koessler Athletic Center will be the site for the first televised MAAC men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader this season on Friday, January 18. Both games will air live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.
The first game of the twin bill will feature a match-up between the women’s programs from Niagara University and Canisius College at 4:30 p.m. Niagara, 1-4 in the MAAC, is led by senior forward Sarah Wilson, who is contributing 12.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, and junior guard Erika Harris, who is posting 11.9 points and 4.4 rebounds an outing for the Purple Eagles. Canisius, 2-3 in the MAAC, is led by Brittane Russell, who is averaging 13.7 points and 5.7 rebounds a night, and Amanda Cavo, who is adding 13.2 points and 3.5 rebounds a game for the Golden Griffins.
Game two has the Purple Eagles taking on the Golden Griffins for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Niagara, 5-1 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard/forward Charron Fisher, who is registering a nation-best 27.9 points and 9.3 rebounds a night, and sophomore guard Tyrone Lewis, who is contributing 14.5 points and 4.1 caroms a night for the Purple Eagles. Canisius, 0-6 in the MAAC, is led by freshman forward Tomas Vazquez-Simmons, who is averaging 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds an outing, and sophomore guard Frank Turner, who is netting 11.6 points a night for the Griffs.
