Marist Hosts MAAC Basketball Doubleheader on January 27 on MSG Network

Edison, N.J. ? Marist College’s McCann Center will be the site for the next televised MAAC men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader this season on Sunday, January 27. Both games will air on the MSG Network.
The first game of the twin bill will feature a match-up between the women’s programs from Loyola College and Marist at 12:00 p.m. Loyola, 3-5 in the MAAC, is led by freshman guard Candice Walker, who is registering 9.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, and senior center Vika Sholokhova, who is averaging 8.3 points and 6.4 caroms a night for the Greyhounds. Marist, 8-0 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore forward Rachele Fitz, who is contributing 18.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, and senior guard Nikki Flores, who is posting 9.5 points and 3.3 rebounds an outing for the Red Foxes.
Game two has the Canisius College men’s team taking on host Marist for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off. Canisius, 1-8 in the MAAC, is led by sophomore guard Frank Turner, who is averaging 12.3 points and 4.4 assists per game, as well as freshman forward Tomas Vazquez-Simmons, who is contributing 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds an outing. Marist, 7-2 in the MAAC, is led by freshman guard Jay Gavin, who is averaging 13.5 points and 2.7 rebounds an outing, and senior guard Louis McCroskey, who is netting 12.4 points and pulling down 5.6 boards a night for the Red Foxes.
