Edison, N.J. ? As teams reach the halfway mark in the 2007-08 MAAC Men’s Basketball conference schedule, the race is on as the 10 schools vie for the top spot in the league standings.

Rider University, Marist College and Siena College are currently in a three-way tie for first place, each owning an 8-2 record in the MAAC.  An outright leader could emerge by the end of the week, with two key matchups.  Marist hosts Rider on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the McCann Center.  Siena will then take on the Broncs on Saturday, February 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Times Union Center, live on ESPN2.

Loyola College and Niagara University are also tied at 7-3.  The Greyhounds will travel to the Gallagher Center on Friday, February 1, for the first meeting with the Purple Eagles this season.  Loyola will host Niagara on Sunday, February 10, at Reitz Arena.  Game time is slated 4:00 p.m., and will air on the MSG Network, the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) and ESPN Full Court.

Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona College, Manhattan College and Saint Peter’s College are also in the hunt of unseating any one of their fellow league members as all the programs close out the second half of the league season and prepare for the 2008 Citizens Bank MAAC Basketball Championship at the Times Union Center in March.
