Junior guard Shondaya Burrell exploded for 25 points on Sunday to lead Siena to a 78-65 victory over Canisius at the Times Union Center. Burrell notched her third career double-double of the season, and nearly posted a triple-double going off for 10 rebounds and eight assists in the Saints first league victory of the 2007-08 campaign. She shot a stunning 7-11 [.636] from the field, including 2-3 [.667] from beyond the arc. Burrell was also 9-11 [.818] from the free-throw line.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
ERICA ALLENSPACH, MARIST
Freshman, Guard, 5-8, Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg
Following a career-high 18 points against Akron, Allenspach scored 11 points in Marist’s 73-43 win over Fairfield on Saturday night. The freshman went 4-for-7 from the field, including 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line. She also added three assists and a rebound. Allenspach has scored in double-figures in consecutive games for the first time in her career.
