MAAC Co-Offensive Players of the Week

 

BURGANDY McCURTY

MH, Jr., 5-9, Port Washington, NY/Schreiber

 

McCurty averaged 4.6 kills and 4.0 digs in two MAAC matches this past week.  She posted the first 20-20 match of her career in a 3-2 loss to Fairfield, collecting 23 kills and 20 digs.  McCurty registered a .323 hitting percentage, recorded two aces and was a part of four blocks on the week.  In the Saints’ 3-1 win over Marist, she had 18 kills and 16 digs.     

 

SHERRYTA STOKES, MANHATTAN

OH, Sr., 5-7, Beltsville, MD/Springbrook/St. John's

 

Stokes averaged 4.17 kills and 4.75 points in 12 sets, as the Lady Jaspers went 2-1 last week.  She also hit .360, slamming 50 kills and committing just 10 errors in 111 swings.  Over the weekend, she averaged 4.00 kills per set and hit .355.

 

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

 

ALLISON NIETERS, IONA

L, So., 5-9, St. Charles, MO/Lutheran

 

Nieters moved to with 100 digs of the school record with 56 total in the three matches and 10 sets she played this week.  Her 5.6 digs per set average led the Gaels to a 2-1 week.  Nieters stands just 94 digs away from the school record of 1,360 set back in 2002, a record she will break in less than two seasons.  

 

MAAC Rookie of the Week

 

JANELLE DAVIS, CANISIUS

S, Fr., 5-9, Allentown, PA/William Allen

 

Davis averaged 9.71 assists in the Golden Griffins seven sets last week. The 5-foot-9 setter had 38 assists to go along with a career-high five kills on seven attempts in the 3-1 victory over Manhattan. Davis then had 30 assists and four block assists in the team’s 3-0 victory over Iona.
