Siena's Abbondandolo and Mannix Sweep Golfer of the Month Awards

Edison, N.J. - Siena’s Dan Abbondandolo was named the MAAC Men’s Golfer of the Month of September, while Siena’s Katelynn Mannix was chosen as the Women’s Golfer of the Month.
Abbondandolo, a senior co-captain, had an excellent month of September, finishing in the top-3 in each of his two tournaments during the month. He shot a two round score of 140 to finish two under par for the weekend in placing third overall at the Navy Invitational. He followed that up by capturing the Cornell Invitational for a second consecutive season, shooting a five under par score of 67 during the only round of competition. Since earning his first career win at last year’s Cornell Invitational, the Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y. native has now captured individual tournament wins in four of his last ten tournaments.
Mannix, reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year, carried over her momentum from capturing the individual title at last season’s MAAC Championship by winning her first regular season invitational this fall. The Plattsburgh, N.Y. native fired a two round score of 148 to capture the Dartmouth Invitational crown, besting 94 other golfers in the field. She was nearly as impressive a week later at the Princeton Invitational, finishing in the top-10 of a highly competitive field.
The 2009 Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will be held April 23-26 at Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, Florida.
