Bilonic, Modrov, Bolstad, Burke Win Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ ? Lovro Bilonic of Saint Peter’s and Priscilla Modrov of Rider were selected as Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the week, respectively.  Brian Bolstad of Marist was selected Men’s Diver of the Week, while Rider’s Amanda Burke won the women’s honor.

Bilonic, a native of Croatia, set the Saint Peter's College men's 100 Yard breaststroke record on
Friday night, bettering the previous mark of 59:20. In his first home meet for the Peacocks, he also won the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:58.44, and was a member of the winning 200 Yard Medley Relay team with Marin Mikulic, Mick Ackalitis, and Mikas Zuravliovas who posted a time of 2:01.29.

Priscilla Modrov, a senior from Smithtown, New York, captured a Rider record in the 500 freestyle, winning with a time of 4:58.78. She also won the 200 butterfly and 400 individual medley.  Rider defeated Seton Hall 158-141, while coming up short against Rutgers, the home team.

Bolstad, a sophomore out of Highland, New York, has won all four events he has competed in this season. On Thursday, he won both the one-meter diving event and three-meter diving event with scores of 273.33 and a career best 299.63, respectively. In the one-meter competition, he bested the field by more than ten points.

Junior Amanda Burke, a Churchville, Pennsylvania native, qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving competition by winning the one-meter dive with a personal best of 298.30 as well as the three-meter event, with a score of 292.20.  Last year, Burke won the one-meter and three-meter dives at the ECAC Championships and placed second in the NCAA zone meet, qualifying for Nationals.

The 2009 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships will be held February 12-14 at Loyola College in Baltimore, MD.
