Seven MAAC Women's Soccer Players Named to the 2008 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams

Edison, N.J. ? Seven players from six member institutions in the MAAC were named to the 2008 Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Teams, selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and presented by ESPN The Magazine.

In District 1, senior midfielder Ahna Johnson from Fairfield University was named to the First Team, while senior forward Stephanie Gartley from Niagara University earned a spot on the Second Team.  Three athletes were named to the Third Team: junior midfielder Courtney McMahon from Manhattan College, junior midfielder Teresa Ferraro from Marist College and senior defender Nikki Gabrielli from Canisius College.

In District 2, Loyola College senior midfielder Lea Day and senior forward Theresa Ferraina were both named to the First Team.

All first-team All-District selections advance to the national ballot.

The 2008 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship will take place November 7-9 at the Siena Turf Field on the campus of Siena College.  Semifinals are set for 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, and the championship game will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9.
