Ledwith and Watson Win Weekly Honors

Edison, NJ ? Iona’s Andrew Ledwith and Saint Peter’s Kelly Watson were selected as the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week.
Ledwith, a senior from Athboy, Ireland, led the Gaels to a fourth-place finish in the 45-team field Brown Race in the Brooks - Paul Short Run at Lehigh University. Ledwith finished second overall for the second straight year at the event out of nearly 300-athletes competing in the race. His time of 23:43 was his second-fastest 8k time in Maroon & Gold, topped only by his performance at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, IN in 2007.
Watson, a sophomore from Lawrence, NJ, ran the second fastest race in the Saint Peter’s College women’s cross country history on Friday at the Towson Invitational. Watson finished in eighth place and as she completed the 5k race in 19:10.
The 2008 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be held on November 1st at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
