MAAC Offensive Player of the Week
RACHELLE WILSON, IONA
MB, Fr., 6-0, Aledo, TX/Aledo
Wilson had a dominant performance in both MAAC matches
this weekend, posting 25 kills (3.12 / set) and a .477 hitting percentage. She
had just four errors in 44 attempts. Equally as impressive on the defensive end
she recorded 13 blocks. She had 12 kills on 18 attempts in three sets vs. Rider
on Saturday before her second double-double of the year with 13 kills and a
career-high 12 blocks vs. Marist on Sunday. It was her third 20+ point effort
of the season.
MAAC Defensive Player of the Week
ALLISON NIETERS, IONA
L, So., 5-9, St. Charles, MO/Lutheran
Nieters ended the regular season with a standout weekend,
posting 58 digs (7.25) and was perfect on 35 service receptions. She recorded
her NCAA Div. I high 10th match with 30 or more digs with a 35-dig effort vs.
Marist on Sunday. Nieters surpassed Chattanooga’s Lara Newberry for the
nation’s lead in the statistic. She holds the school record with 1,534 career
digs in her two seasons in Maroon & Gold.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
LAUREN BALMERT, FAIRFIELD
S, Fr., 5-9, Cranberry Twp., PA/Seneca Valley
Balmert
helped the Stags to a 2-0 week and its fifth straight MAAC Regular Season title
posting two double-doubles for an average 9.25 assists and 2.88 digs per set.
She also collected eight kills on .333 hitting and three blocks. In the 3-2 win
at Loyola, Balmert had a double-double with 43 assists and 13 digs. In the 3-0
win against Manhattan, Balmert tallied her 10th double-double with 31 assists
and 10 digs.
