Modrov, Trivino, Burke Win Weekly Awards

Edison, NJ ? Drew Modrov of Rider repeated as MAAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Loyola’s Courtney Trivino captured Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors.  Amanda Burke of Rider was named Women’s Diver of the Week for the fourth consecutive week.

Modrov, a sophomore from Smithtown, New York, won four events in the Rider men’s swimming victories over the University of Delaware and La Salle University.  He won the 50 freestyle in 21.14, besting his mark from the previous week by nearly two-tenths of a second.  Modrov also won the 100 freestyle (47.10), 200 freestyle (1:44.58), and anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:10.07).

Trivino, a freshman from Caldwell, New Jersey, helped lead the Greyhounds women’s team to MAAC wins over Manhattan and Siena, taking two individual first-place finishes and leading off on a victorious relay team, setting two Siena pool records in the process. Trivino led off the Greyhounds’ 200-yard medley relay, which finished with a pool-record time of 1:50.61. She won the 200-yard backstroke, setting a pool record with a time of 2:08.87.  Trivino wrapped up her day with a victory in the 200-yard individual medley.

Burke, a Churchville, Pennsylvania native, won her fourth consecutive diver of the week award.  She won both the one-meter (340.65) and three-meter (295.50) board events against Delaware and La Salle. 

The 2009 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships will be held February 12-14 at Loyola College in Baltimore, MD.
