2008 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship Begins on Friday

EDISON, N.J. ? The 2008 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship will be held this weekend at Siena Turf Field on the campus of Siena College.
The semifinals begin on Friday, November 7 as top-seeded Loyola College (9-5-4, 7-0-2 MAAC) will take on fourth-seeded Canisius College (11-4-3, 6-3 MAAC) in the first game at 11:00 a.m. Second-seeded Fairfield University (14-4-2, 7-2 MAAC) will then take on host Siena (13-2-3, 6-2-1 MAAC), the number three seed, for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
On Sunday, November 9, the women’s championship game will take place at 1:00 p.m. Fans outside the area can follow the action for all three games via the Live Webcast and GameTracker.
The winner of the 2008 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship will earn the league’s automatic berth into the 2008 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship.
Last year, Loyola defeated Marist College, 1-0, to capture its eighth MAAC Championship in school history. The Greyhounds defeated Fairfield, 2-0, in the semifinals, while the Red Foxes earned a 2-1 victory over Niagara University. Loyola goalkeeper Brittany Henderson was named the Most Valuable Player of the championship.
