Marist Men and Women Lead After Day Two of the 2008 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships

Baltimore, Md. ? The Marist College men’s women’s swimming and diving teams lead the league after two days of competition at the 2008 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, held at the Mangione Aquatic Center at Loyola College.

 

The Marist men took the lead with 520.50 points, while Loyola College has registered 511 points for second place.  Rider University is in third with 509 points, followed by Niagara University (236), Saint Peter’s College (215), Iona College (183.50), Fairfield University (154) and Canisius College (119).

 

On the women’s side, the Red Foxes have tallied 505 points, four points ahead of second-place Loyola (501).  Rider is in third with 482.50 points, followed by Iona (243), Niagara (207), Siena College (199.50), Fairfield (194), Canisius (97), Manhattan College (89) and Saint Peter’s (76).

 

Four MAAC records were broken this evening.  Rider’s Priscilla Modrov reset her own record in the 400-yard individual medley (4:26.37), and then did so again in the 100-yard butterfly (56.03).  Fellow Bronc Kellyanne Tomasula bested her own time in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.28.  Marist’s 800-yard freestyle relay team of Emily Hammang, Jenell Walsh-Thomas, Sandra Bujalski and Jamie Falco set a new MAAC record with a time of 7:39.81.
