CHRIS ZARINS, SIENA

Junior attackman Chris Zarins continued the stellar start to his season with a pair of goals in the Saints’ 6-5 win over national power Harvard on Saturday. Zarins, who tallied a hat trick in Siena’s season-opener the week before, notched two important goals in the win. Down 3-1 in the second, he jumpstarted Siena’s offense with the first of three goals in a 58 second span. Then, with the game tied at five in the fourth, Zarins found the back of the net with the game-winning goal as the Saints improved to 2-0.
MAAC Defensive Player of the Week
BRENT HERBST, SIENA
G, So., 6-0, Plainview, N.Y./Plainview JFK
Herbst, the reigning MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year, continued to live up to expectations with another strong performance in Siena’s 6-5 win over Harvard on Saturday. After only allowing one goal in the Saints’ season opener against Presbyterian last week, he allowed only five to Harvard. Most impressively, Herbst recorded six of his nine saves in the fourth period with Siena hanging on for most of the fourth to a one goal lead. Hersbt also picked up a game-high six ground balls in the win.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
COREY ZINDEL, MARIST
A, Fr., 6-1, Randolph, N.J./Randolph
Zindel led the Red Foxes with four goals in their 12-6 loss at #14 Delaware on Saturday afternoon. He also recorded an assist to tally five points in the game. Six of Zindel’s seven shots were on goal.
