Rider Hosts MAAC Basketball Doubleheader on ESPNU Friday

Edison, N.J. ? Rider University’s Alumni Gymnasium will be the site for the final televised MAAC men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader this season on Friday, February 29. Both games will air live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network.
The first game of the twin bill will feature a match-up between the women’s programs from Siena College and Rider at 4:30 p.m. Siena, 6-11 in the MAAC, is led by senior forward Laura Menty, who is registering 19.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, and senior guard Melissa Manzer, who is averaging 13.8 points and 3.1 boards an outing for the Saints. Rider, 3-14 in the MAAC, is led by senior guard Janele Henderson, who is contributing 14.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, and sophomore guard/forward Tammy Meyers, who is posting 11.0 points and 4.4 rebounds an outing for the Broncs.
Game two has the Saint Peter’s College’s men’s team taking on host Rider for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Saint Peter’s, 3-13 in the MAAC, is led by freshman guard Wesley Jenkins, who is registering 12.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a night, and senior forward Todd Sowell, who is contributing 12.2 points and 10.5 caroms a night for the Peacocks. Rider, 11-5 in the MAAC, is led by senior forward Jason Thompson, who is averaging 19.9 points and a league-best 11.8 rebounds an outing, and sophomore guard Ryan Thompson, who is netting 15.1 points and pulling down 6.1 boards a night for the Broncs.
