Fitz and Flooks Win MAAC Weekly Awards

MAAC Player of the Week

RACHELE FITZ, MARIST
Sophomore, Forward, 6-0, Seven Hills, OH/Trinity

Fitz scored over 20 points a game in wins over Rider and Siena this week. She opened the week with a 20 point, 10 rebound effort against the Broncs on Friday night, going a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Fitz followed that up with 27 points at Siena, one point shy of tying her career high. She had seven rebounds and was 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. For the week, Fitz averaged 23.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. She shot 52% from the field and 95.5% from the free throw line.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

LIZ FLOOKS, NIAGARA
Freshman, Forward, 5-10, White Plains, NY/White Plains

The only freshman to play for Niagara in its two games this past weekend led the Purple Eagles in scoring in both games. She notched 8 points and 3 boards against the Stags, while going 3-3 (100%) from the foul line. She followed that performance up with a 36 minute, 17 point performance against Iona, where she also picked up six rebounds. In two games, she averaged 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. She also finished the weekend with 3 assists, 3 steals and a block.
