Marist Tops 2008 Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll

Edison, NJ ? The Marist College Red Foxes have been selected as the preseason favorites to claim the 2008 MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Title, as determined by a vote of the conference’s seven head coaches.
Marist, who finished as the runner-up in 2007, received 43 points in the poll. The Red Foxes will be led by Preseason Co-Players of the Year Lindsay Diener and Liz Falco. Diener was second in the league last season in assists per game (1.53) and was fifth in points per game with an average of 3.73. Falco, the 2007 MAAC Rookie of the Year, was second in the league in goals per game (3.12) and third in ground balls per game (2.81).
Canisius College was second in the poll with 36 points, followed closely by Fairfield University with 35. Iona received 25 points, Manhattan and Siena had 24 each, and Niagara had nine.
The Preseason All-MAAC team consists of attackers Whitney Card (Canisius), Alicia Psillos (Manhattan), and Ali Carnabuci (Marist). Joining Diener and Falco in the midfield are Ashley Gray (Canisius), Jaclyn O’Leary (Iona), Emma Lee Harrison (Niagara), and Lindsey Rosecrans (Siena). Fairfield’s Mary Vallely and Katie von Hoffman and Marist’s Ashley Dattellas make up the defense. Marist’s Liz Burkhard was selected as the goalkeeper.
